ENRICHING THE ELK REFUGE VISITOR EXPERIENCE

The Elk Refuge is one of the busiest National Wildlife Refuges in the country with millions of visitors traveling through Jackson Hole annually. Seeing the opportunity to advantage of this visitor traffic and turn more people on Refuge System and the impact of large-scale conservation within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, the Service hired Root House to develop site plans for new visitor facilities (e.g. visitor center, trails, viewing towers, boardwalks) needed to create a more robust wildlife-dependent recreation experience at the Elk Refuge.
