Ian Scott – Principal / Creative Director

Our creative lead since co-founding Root House Studio, Ian oversees our projects from inception to production. He is an environmental and exhibit designer who produces everything from architectural detailing to graphic design for our built works. Ian is a natural synthesizer who can create a clear vision from the creative team’s prolific stream of thoughts and sketches. As a director, Ian is constantly pushing the creative and technological boundaries of Root House’s distinctive media style—a combination of live-action cinematography with computer-generated animation. He continuously develops our design vocabulary, aimed at infusing creative design with important cultural and ecological stories. Along with building a creative studio atmosphere, Ian has built his own mud hut in Senegal and his own cabin at 11,000′ elev. in the Rocky Mountains.
